In June, I was one of a number of people who gave evidence to Lancashire Council about Cuadrilla’s applications to frack at Preston New Road and Roseacre Wood. Despite Cuadrilla’s brazen attempt to intimidate the council, it rejected both applications (though of course our unashamedly corrupt and authoritarian central government has now taken that power away from local councils). In Aberystwyth in October we staged an all-singing all die-in action outside Barclay’s Bank, protesting its financial support for fracking in North Yorkshire. At the heart of FFWW is taking action on behalf of others, communities elsewhere threatened by fracking and all those globally now and in future who suffer the impacts of climate change. I love that unselfish care for others which transcends place and time. This year, I think Upton Community Protection Camp near Chester will need our support. And I know we’ll give it.
